Static In My Brain came from another forgotten Lane recording pulled out of the vault years later. This one was even more real because life was literally happening in the background. You can hear traces of the kids in the original demo, which makes it feel less like a recording and more like a snapshot of a moment in time.
Again, the foundation is Lane: his voice, his guitar, his melodies, and the spark of the idea. He created the heartbeat of the song years ago with no plan, no audience, and no clue it would ever come back to life.
When we rediscovered it, we finished it together. We wrote the lyrics as a team and shaped the message into something bigger. I added a little of my edge, attitude, and energy to give it contrast and push.
The result is a song about mental noise, pressure, overthinking, and trying to find signal through chaos.
It’s also about something deeper: unfinished things don’t always stay unfinished. Sometimes they wait for the right time, the right scars, and the right people to finish them
